“The history of the labor movements needs to be taught in every school in this land. America is a living testimonial to what free men and women, organized in free democratic trade unions can do to make a better life. … We ought to be proud of it!”
Vice President Hubert Horatio Humphrey, Jr.

Eugene V Debs
Eugene Debs was a beloved leader for railroad workers in the late 19th and early 20th century. Even though he passed away in 1926, his ideas continue to inspire railroad workers. He gave many speeches and wrote numerous essays about uniting workers, democratic unions, and improving the lives of railroad workers. In his well-known 1906 essay "You Railroad Men," he urged workers to come together, set aside differences, and join forces with the broader working class.
