Railroad Workers, the Media, and the News
RWU’s media committee is one of our strongest and most valuable assets. During the big contract fight in the Fall of 2022 with the major Class One freight carriers in the U.S., the Committee mushroomed to include more than a dozen railroad workers. When we make contact with a media contact, we add their information to a master database of hundreds of other media outlets across North America. RWU receives regular requests from media outlets large and small. Depending on a myriad of factors - including the craft and/or rail carrier in question, geographic region of the country, or issue at hand - a specific member or members of the Committee will make contact with the Reporter.
If you are an RWU member in good standing and would be interested in serving on the Committee, please let us know. And if you are a Reporter and wish to talk to a working railroader, please contact us.
Each week, RWU brings you the news of what is happening in rail labor and in the rail industry in both North America and around the world. Employing numerous news feeds and a cadre of volunteers, we are able to glean out the most important stories of the week, focusing on issues of concern to railroad workers and our allies in the labor movement and the larger community. Look for it here each week, publicly released at 7:00 AM Central Time each and every Tuesday morning.
