RWU Convention - April 23, 2010

RWU Second Biennial Convention

On Friday, April 23rd, Railroad Workers United will host our Second Biennial Convention at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center in Dearborn, Michigan, just outside of Detroit. Like our Founding Convention in April 2008, we will conduct an all-day Convention in conjunction with the biennial Labor Notes Conference.

While Friday will be a day solely devoted to RWU Convention, many participants will want to stay the weekend to take part in the numerous workshops, trainings, social functions, and other activities of this great Conference, sponsored by Labor Notes, now in its 30th year.

At the RWU Convention, we will elect new officers and a new International Steering Committee. We will consider a series of Proposed By-laws Amendments and discuss and debate a number of Proposed Resolutions.  We will hear reports of the various RWU Campaigns and other activities. And we will discuss and debate priorities and direction for the organization in the coming two years. Finally, we will host a conference wide social “Railroaders Hospitality Suite” featuring food and drink and live music headed by labor troubadour Anne Feeney.

We expect RWU members from across the continent to attend – railroaders from all craft and unions, from all the major rail carriers. Please consider joining us and attending the Convention.

This is your opportunity to meet fellow union activists, share information, and set the tone and direction, campaigns and policies for RWU in the next two years. To register, please complete and mail a RWU Convention Registration Form or you can CLICK HERE to register online.

While there, you will probably want to stay the rest of the weekend for the Labor Notes Conference. To register for the Labor Notes Conference, please fill out the Labor Notes Conference Registration Form.  Don't forget to book your room at the Hyatt Regency Dearborn.

RWU has produced a Convention Flyer to distribute in your workplace and email to co-workers. For more information and/or to get involved in organizing for the Convention, please contact RWU. Email info@railroadworkersunited.org or call 206-984-3051.
