BLACK SHIRT FRIDAY - RWU Urges Solidarity Action!

Railroad Workers United urges all rail union members across the U.S. to wear a BLACK SHIRT to work on Friday, June 19th, Fathers Day Weekend. A few weeks ago on Mother's Day, Conductor Jared Boehlke was killed in the line of duty while working RCO alone in Selkirk, NY. A few days later, signal maintainer John Pichalski, Jr. was killed in Middletown, Pa. while repairing a damaged railroad crossing. His death brought the total for 2009 to twelve.

There has been a dramatic escalation in the number of rail worker fatalities, despite the fact that traffic is down around 25%. RWU finds this unacceptable and urges all members and supporters and ALL rail workers to join us in this show of solidarity by wearing your black shirt to work on Friday, June 19th.

Please READ and POST the attachments here. There is a press release you can forward to local media in your area. This is followed by two flyers, the first one directly related to Brother Boehlke's memorial, the second is more generalized. Please post and distribute both flyers widely.
