BLET and UTU Joint Efforts
We would like to congratulate and commend BLET President Rodzwicz and UTU President Futhey on their recent joint comments to the FRA. On December 31, 2008, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) published a Notice of Pro-posed Rulemaking setting forth numerous revisions to FRA’s regulation governing the qualifica-tion and certification of locomotive engineers published at 49 CFR Part 240 (NPRM). 73 Fed. Reg. 80349–80360. In a cooperative effort, the BLET and UTU submitted their comments on the FRA proposed rulemaking in a joint submission under a joint letterhead and signed by both parties. Cooperative efforts such as this present a united front to the FRA and the carriers. We hope this sort of joint action for the benefit of members of both unions will continue in the future. Well done, Brothers Rodcwicz and Futhey! |
